RANIKHET CITY GUIDE

Ranikhet is a place of legends. Once upon a time, Queen Padmini of Kumaon was in love with this tiny hill paradise. King Sudhardev had to oblige her by building a place here naming this place ? Ranikhet? the queen?s field.

No trace of the palace can be found, but the place remains the same: bewithching, full of flowers, trees and green meadows a midst heavenly Himalayan surroundings. 10kms. South of Ranikhet are the famous orchards, awhich remain laden with fruits round the year. Ranikhet is known for its delicious apples, apricots, peaches and various other alpine fruits. You can buy them right from the growers. There is also a government run Fruit Research Centre. Bhalu Dam nearby in the background of the beautiful lake created by this Dam, attracts tourist round the year.
